Merry Christmas from MOAS!

MOAS is happy to celebrate another Christmas with you. We are so grateful to our big community of volunteers, supporters and donors who share our mission and values allowing us to realise, year after year, our life-saving projects across the world, making Christmas less difficult for those people living in complex situations. Everyday conflict, violence, human rights violations, persecution, natural disasters and climate change have a deep-rooted impact on the lives of those who have lost everything or are forced to flee.

Too many people will spend this Christmas alone or far from their families, many surviving at the margins of society with no fixed place to call home or travelling in the cold across dangerous terrain in the hope of finding a better life. This is why, at Christmas, we must engage even more. We should ask ourselves what can we do on this day for those most in need.

A life saved in Ukraine, where the violence relentlessly continues across cities, towns, homes and families provides a little light in this seemingly endless dark. The feeding of a malnourished child in Yemen, Somalia and Sudan who can continue to share his life with his family provides a small sign of hope. A small yet significant achievement is a Rohingya family that is better equipped to survive floods and fires in their encampment. The smiles on the faces of the children residing in migrant centres in Malta when receiving a “panettone” can change a family’s day for the better. These actions are the result achieved when  feelings of human solidarity are turned into action, and we begin to do something for others. Often, a simple gesture of sharing and inclusion can make such a difference.

Your generosity has enabled us to bring hope to many in the furthest corners of the world. Your support will continue to make our efforts to save more lives possible and to improve the living conditions of vulnerable children, women and men. It is because of you that we can continue to do our part for a better world. And that is what we shall continue doing in 2024, in the hope of reaching more people and creating greater impact.

According to Christopher Catrambone, MOAS Founder, “MOAS has seen incredible growth and development over the last 12 months. Our teams, both at HQ and based internationally in the field, have worked tirelessly to reach as many people as possible with our suite of life-saving programs. The Ukraine project has been scaling up steadily and now runs a fleet of over 50 emergency vehicles, manned by approximately 150 crew members, who have treated over 50,000 patients to date. Our latest program, delivering aid and services to Sudan, has expanded our portfolio, while activities have continued in Yemen, Somalia, Bangladesh and in the Mediterranean basin.

As we forge ahead into the new year MOAS will continue to innovate and push the boundaries of humanitarian intervention to ensure that those in most need receive the most up to-date effective and impactful services possible. MOAS has always been a trend-setter, a model-maker and a boundary-breaker, 2023 was only further evidence of this and 2024 is set to look no different”.

The entire MOAS team wishes you all a merry Christmas! May this day bring the spirit of hospitality, warmth, inclusion and sharing.
