MOAS Humanitarian Aid Delivery Initiative in Sudan
Bringing medicines and therapeutic food to vulnerable Sudanese communities
In April 2023, violent armed clashes erupted in Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), exacerbating the suffering of millions already grappling with drought, natural hazards, and famine. Amidst the ongoing armed conflict and pervasive insecurity, access to essential services and humanitarian aid has become even more challenging for vulnerable populations residing in conflict-affected regions and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The country, already dramatically affected by economic, political, and social crises is now victim and witness of further deterioration, resulting in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis that is expected to worsen further, with the risk of the conflict expanding to neighbouring countries within the Horn of Africa.
Access to health care is extremely difficult, while child and maternal malnutrition are increasing at a speed never seen before, and levels of acute food insecurity require urgent assistance.
MOAS TO BRING HUMANITARIAN RELIEF
In Sudan, four million children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition due to the scarcity of food, clean water, and proper healthcare. Moreover, the ongoing conflict has severely disrupted access to medical facilities and supplies. Since 2019 MOAS has been shipping medical supplies and therapeutic food to Yemen and Somalia, to combat child malnutrition and save lives. We are now willing to help the Sudanese people in need.
MOAS’ Sudan Humanitarian Aid Delivery project, aims to alleviate the repercussions of this devastating conflict and address critical, medical and nutritional needs of the vulnerable people in need.
Our primary focus is to procure and deliver essential medications and famine relief products tailored to the specific requirements of those affected.
