Joining Forces to Save Lives: Great success for the MOAS Fundraising Event

Malta, 17th October 2023. On the evening of Saturday 14th October, MOAS hosted its Annual Fundraising Event at the beautiful Palazzo Parisio, to raise funds in support of its humanitarian missions around the world. The charity evening was an opportunity for fine dining, entertainment, and music, where guests could mingle and express solidarity with vulnerable communities worldwide.

The fundraising dinner commenced with welcome drinks and aperitifs on the terrace overlooking the lavish Italian Garden of the palace, cheered by the musical talent of violinist Yaryna Pavlyk. The evening featured an all-inclusive 3-course banquet, introduced by Advisory Board Member Joe Ghio, emphasising how 9 years after its foundation, the organization keeps working hard to provide as much help as possible wherever it is needed most.

Peter Hinchcliff, trustee of MOAS UK, addressed the audience with a keynote speech promoting a message of unity: “At MOAS we firmly believe in the power of collective action and global solidarity, working together across borders and collaborating with different entities to contribute our specialist skills and efforts to achieve the greatest impact possible. Our overarching goal is to facilitate an inclusive, welcoming, and equitable world for all.”

Representing MOAS’ Founding Family, Maria Luisa Catrambone Liotta, MOAS’ Operations and Social Media Coordinator, expressed her gratitude to Baroness Justine Pergola, who graciously hosted the event, as well as the attendees, the partners, the Board Members and the organisers for their efforts to make the event a big success. She also called for a minute of silence to honour the victims of the ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises in many areas of the world in the spirit of solidarity and humanity.

Fine dining was accompanied by the jazz sounds of the The Warren Galea jazz trio, while dj Federico Peltretti lit up the evening inspiring dancing late into the night.

The event also offered the opportunity to buy a copy of “Collecting the Sea with a Teaspoon” (Raccogliere il Mare Con Un Cucchiaino), a book penned by MOAS’ Co-founder and Director Regina Egle Liotta Catrambone, proceeds from which will be donated to support MOAS, as will as all net proceeds from the fundraiser.

Following the fundraiser, Regina Egle Liotta Catrambone, MOAS Co-Founder and Director, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who supported this event and who helped us to raise much-needed funds. The past few years have witnessed global challenges of unprecedented proportions. We are experiencing very difficult times, and now more than ever it’s important to remain united in the “fight for solidarity”. Humanitarian crises worldwide are rising, and more and more women, children and men will need aid and support: MOAS is ready to play its part, and every donation means a lot to us. Let’s build a more inclusive and supportive community together. I look forward to seeing the end of the awful conflicts affecting many countries and wish peace triumph over violence“.

The event was sponsored by: Palazzo Parisio, NM Arrigo, People and Skin, Floreal and Cantele wines.
