IT’S GIVING TUESDAY! TOGETHER WE CAN SUPPORT COMMUNITIES GLOBALLY

With Black Friday just behind us, and the holiday season fast approaching, we are bombarded with ideas of things to buy! However, now is also a time to reflect on the year that has passed, and an opportunity to pause and consider the impact we could have on the lives of others. Giving Tuesday has arrived, and with it, MOAS asks you to think about communities around the world where a donation can make such a difference. The cost-of-living crisis is affected us all, and we know that times are tough for most families this year, but even the smallest contribution to our cause can make a genuine difference to those in desperate need.

You might be asking What would my donation really achieve? Let us break down what each of our projects involves and how your gift can have a real impact on the communities we support around the world:

Food insecurity affects millions of people globally, and in Yemen and Somalia, countries which have been devastated by conflict and climate change, childhood malnutrition has ripped through communities.  MOAS provides life-saving therapeutic food to treat moderate acute malnutrition, fighting for children’s right to both live and thrive.

Migrants are often pushed to the periphery and face ongoing barriers to feeling at home in their communities. MOAS supports integration and independence through specialised programmes which focus on creating safe spaces for asylum seekers and refugees to build connections in the community, and access services. This also comes in the form of advocacy. MOAS has created a platform to those whose voices deserve to be heard. We have a safe and legal routes campaign advocating for safer pathways for people to seek sanctuary. Saving lives on dangerous migration routes means stopping smuggling networks and providing safe and legal alternatives to those who are looking for a better future. MOAS’ advocacy and awareness campaigns fight for the rights of others.

The Ukraine conflict has devastating consequences, bringing devastation, and suffering to whole communities. MOAS is on the ground, providing life-saving front-line medical assistance and health interventions to the people impacted by the violence.

In addition to Flood and Water Safety Training, MOAS has started a one-of-a-kind project for Fire Safety and Response after seeing an increase in the frequency and severity of fire outbreaks in crowded refugee camps worldwide. MOAS continues to support its partners and refugee camp management in mapping risks, providing training, and distributing equipment to local and host community members – to combat the possible effects of fire and water-related events.

This year, MOAS is aiming to raise 10,000 euros which will help us to deliver lifesaving services and aid to communities globally. We will continue to battle malnutrition; help protect refugee camps and promote integration!
