Since our operations began in 2014, the MOAS team has now reached over 100,000 people through our life-saving programs in the field. Having rescued and assisted over 40,000 children, women and men fleeing violence and persecution during our Search and Rescue (SAR) operations in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, our medical team in Bangladesh have now treated over 60,000 patients through our two primary health centres – known as ‘Aid Stations’ – at Unchiprang and Shamlapur in Bangladesh.
Looking back on the work MOAS has done, it is incredible to think that a relatively small, young NGO has reached so many people from all over the world. The focus of the organization has always been on innovating in the humanitarian space and not necessarily on industrializing our processes. That said, it is incredibly emotional for those of us whose history with the organization stretches across its interventions and programming, to acknowledge the cumulative impact our work has had on communities in distress.
It has been an honour and a privilege for us all to meet and learn from each one of those 100,000 people who have interacted with us over the years. Each MOAS representative has, through their experiences with the organization, taken specific stories and relationships into their hearts, which now inform our approach to the work and our wider lives every day.
We are deeply thankful for our hugely generous and dedicated international community and all they have done to make our work possible, and, as we look to the future, hope we will be able to continue reaching out to all those who need us.
