As we prepare for the arrival of Easter in a spirit of hope and solidarity, we cannot stop thinking about those who find themselves in a situation of war, poverty and violence.
We think about the people who are forced to live with the conflict in Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, those who are forced to flee along the dangerous migratory routes that connect Africa to Europe, along the borders that separate South America from North America, in refugee camps and in crowded reception centers where living conditions are very complex.
Every year during Easter, we feel like it is possible to do even more to alleviate the difficulties of all those living in a condition of vulnerability, that we can be a part of the change that alleviates this suffering.
The projects we carry out in Ukraine, Yemen, Somalia, Bangladesh and Malta show that in joining forces we can make a difference and build a better world together.
With thanks to the contribution of each of our supporters, we have been able to treat more than 10,000 front-line patients, 20,000 people in local communities and train 10,000 local healthcare providers in Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict. Without each of you it would not have been possible, between 2014 and 2017, to save the lives of 40,000 children, women and men in the Mediterranean Sea. It would not have be possible to save children suffering from malnutrition in Yemen and Somalia or help those living in refugee camps to have resources and gain skills to save themselves from the risks of drownings and fires that cause casualties every year, especially among children.
This Easter we can rejoice in the knowledge that we have done something concrete for others and for the world.
